Circle NR Rough Rider Outpost

Those that don't mind "Roughin' It" a little, will be delighted with this vacation opportunity. The Rough Rider Outpost is situated on Livingston Peak. We enjoy the meandering climb through a rancher's land (8 miles) up to the private homeowners land area. The road is rocky at times and can be muddy in the rain, of course a 4-wheel drive vehicle with chains (just in case) will get you through in the thick of it!

The Livingston Peak association is adjacent to the Absaroka Wilderness Area where you'll enjoy miles of trails for hiking or horseback riding. Once you reach the Private Association Area, you'll find beautiful rolling hills and meadows! The summer brings brilliant wildflowers. Wildlife is always near: free range horses, black bears, moose, coyotes, antelope, whitetail and mule deer, elk, mountain lions, prairie chickens and rattlesnakes! Bring your film!!

The Rough Rider Outpost is a log cabin consisting of 2 levels. The main floor has a full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave and all the utensils you may need; a dinette area; a washbasin cupboard with pitcher, woodstove; living room complete with CD/TV/VCR combo and plenty of games! You'll reach the upper level via spiral staircase. It consists of a large room with 1 queen sized bed over looking Livingston Peak and 5 twin beds which can be connected together! There is various day pack equipment in the home for your convenience. We have a gas grill to use and a fire pit that can be used when the area is not too dry. Bring the horses! We have a coral and water trough!

Bring your own drinking water because this home does not have any water!! We said you would be "roughin' it!" In the warm months water is close by and jugs can be filled or use of the large truck with a water tank can be used! Just like it says - Roughin' It' - there is even an outhouse! Please note, during off peak time period, the road is not plowed. We use 4 wheelers and snowmobiles to reach the cabin!

The Rough Rider Outpost cabin sits on 20 acres of private land and is situated with an incredible view of Livingston Peak and the Absaroka Mountains. The owners also own 3 additional parcels for  your use.  30 acres at Paradise Point with a bench on a cliff overlooking Paradise Valley. We call it "Mom's Paradise Point". The other 2 parcels are on the east side of the area and face Crazy Mountains and Sheep Mountain area.  The area has plenty of evidence of elk and bear (watch your step)!
Don't eat the elk-duds! We like to call this 40 acres "Dad's Bear-a-dise"! A small hunting shed is conveniently located there.
